Firestone Firehawk Race Tires Supplied:
* 892 dry-condition slicks; each car receives eight sets (32 tires) for the race weekend.

These tires use the same approach Firestone Racing engineers have employed for the last several years at Iowa Speedway.  The right-side tire is our 2010 Superspeedway tire specification from Texas and Kansas. The left-side tire is an all-new compound, but very similar to our 2010 Indianapolis left-side tire spec.  This combination of tires affords excellent durability from the right-side tires while using the left-side tires to enhance grip.

From Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing: “Iowa Speedway presents Firestone Racing with a very unique challenge.  Although it is technically a short oval, the high speeds and loads it produces require the durability of a superspeedway specification tire.  It’s difficult to believe the IZOD IndyCar Series season is almost at its halfway point, but here we are!  Iowa Speedway will be the last oval track on the schedule until the end of August, but our Firestone Racing engineers are already working on our next generation superspeedway specification tire after completing a tire test at Chicagoland Speedway earlier this week.  They will use that data to develop tires for use at Chicagoland, Kentucky and Homestead.  In the meantime, we look forward to exciting racing and a great challenge at Iowa, followed by seeing our primary and alternate road- and street-course tires in action agai n for the next several races.  There’s never a dull moment for Firestone Racing during the IZOD IndyCar Series season!”

Firestone “Tire-ific” Move of the Race: Following each IZOD IndyCar Series race again in 2010, Firestone Racing will nominate three drivers who best utilized their Firestone tires to make a bold, dramatic move during the event. Fans can go towww.indycar.com and vote for the nominee they believe made the most “Tire-ific” move of the race. The $10,000 prize from the Firestone 550k at Texas Motor Speedway – to Danica Patrick, for her most impressive performance of the season, finishing second – will be awarded in pre-race activities Sunday.
