Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Ready to Continue Their Success at Infineon Raceway
Press Release
The team feels additionally prepared this weekend because they had the opportunity to test at Infineon Raceway last week with Wilson and Hildebrand. The duo had a very successful test. DRR finished 3rd last year with Mike Conway, 11th in 2005 with Roger Yasukawa, and 11th in 2008 with Buddy Rice. The team’s best start at Infineon was in 2006 with Ryan Briscoe, who started seventh.
After a tough weekend at Mid-Ohio, Wilson is ready to get back to his racing roots and turn his luck around. The Brit had an extremely productive test. Thirteen cars participated for one full day of testing at Infineon Raceway. Wilson clocked the third quickest time of 77.46 seconds. His teammate, Hildebrand, had the 7th fastest time of 78.21 seconds.
Justin Wilson is ready to finish what he has started in Sonoma and bring home a good result. This will be his third year at the 2.303-mile circuit. Previously, he finished 9th in his first start in 2008 after starting 7th. In 2009, Wilson started 22nd and finished 7th.
Earlier this season, Wilson earned DRR’s best result since team co-owner, Robbie Buhl, won in 2000 at Walt Disney World Speedway as he came home with 2nd place finishes for the organization in St. Petersburg, Florida and in Long Beach, California. Long Beach marked his seventh career top-five finish, all have been on street/road courses. He started competing in the IZOD IndyCar Series in 2008 and since then he has won on a street course (2008 Belle Isle) and a road course (2009 Watkins Glen). Since 2008, Wilson has advanced to 15 Firestone Fast Six qualifying sessions. Out of those sessions, he has qualified in the top-5 ten times. So far this season, he has started 3rd in Brazil, 4th in St. Petersburg, 3rd in Long Beach, 6th in Watkins Glen, and 1st in Toronto.
Returning to the track this weekend is American driver, JR Hildebrand. This will not only be his first time to compete in an IZOD IndyCar on the circuit, but he will also be running the No. 24 TranSystems primary livery this weekend as well. TranSystems is a global engineering firm focused on delivering solutions across the entire transportation world. To achieve this, TranSystems’ consulting services span all modes, including architectural, engineering and planning, management and supply chain, transportation security and transportation real estate consulting services.
The Sausalito, CA native stepped up to the IZOD IndyCar Series after competing in the Firestone Indy Lights category for the last two seasons. Hildebrand made his debut IZOD IndyCar appearance at Mid-Ohio two weeks ago and he’s back again this weekend at his home race in Sonoma. It was announced a month ago that JR would step in for the injured Mike Conway. JR had an impressive run in Mid-Ohio as he qualified 18th and finished 16th.
Some of his accomplishments include winning the 2009 Firestone Indy Lights Championship, the Formula Ford 2000 Championship, winning the SCCA Formula Russell Championship and the Jim Russell Sprint Car Series Championship, to name a few. Last season he recorded four wins, eleven top-five finishes, twelve top-ten finishes, and five poles in Firestone Indy Lights, taking home the series title. He also participated in a 3-day test with the Force India F1 Team. In 2008, he finished fifth in Firestone Lights standings and won his first career race at Kansas, also recording 8 top-five and 12 top-ten finishes. For 2007, Hildebrand made his Firestone Indy Lights debut at the Infineon double-header with RLR / Anderson Racing. In 2006, he won the Cooper Tires Formula Ford 2000 championship for Cape Motorsports, recording a record-setting 12 victories in 14 races.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track this weekend for the 13th round of the IZOD IndyCar Series in Sonoma, California. The race telecast will air live on Sunday, August 22nd at 5:00 pm (EDT) on VERSUS. The race will also air live on the IMS Radio Network, XM channel 145, and Sirius channel 212. What they have to say…
Justin Wilson, No. 22 Z-Line Designs: “I’m really looking forward to returning to Sonoma. It’s a challenging racetrack that is tough to find a car balance on. I think our test last week went well and I hope that will put us in good shape. The big test was with my thumb after tearing the ligaments in Mid-Ohio. After a few runs, I was able to find a more comfortable bracing and style of driving that allowed me to be more competitive.”
JR Hildebrand, No. 24 TranSystems: “I’ve been looking forward to the race at Infineon for a little while now. We had a pretty productive test day, so while there’s still some work to do I think we”re heading into the weekend with a good baseline. It should be a good weekend for us.”
