NASCAR's statement was stupid because "banging fenders" was never smart racing.

NASCR said today,"NASCAR is a contact sport – our history is based on banging fenders." NASCAR knows the drivers can not do that because of the aero on these cars. if they bang fenders they are out to lunch the rest of the race

Thank you for the reply, Matthew.

Going below the yellow line in the turns has never been an issue with or without this rule; if/when NASCAR takes it away we won't suddenly see people racing on the apron of the turns - the only instance of that that comes to mind was Junior's pass in 2003 on the apron of Turn Three.

As far as pit speed limits, that best suited to the post in question, but I will say the issue of crew safety wasn't that big until NASCAR began closing pit road in March 1989.

The main thing with this is that in most instances the teams with the most money or most say have control and are therefore favorited. Now when it comes to bumping in the corners, that should be legal, but going below the yellow? I really dont know, it really dont make anysense in the corners so the question really is if its worth getting rid of it, or you could have the rule be no below yellow in the 2 main corners and trioval and straights are ok, cause there is no sense of being on the apron which is like 10 degrees when you have 33 degrees 2 feet to your right. Speed limits are needed. crewman dont need to die because dale earnhardt jr dont know how to shift.
