NASCAR announced a few days ago John Darby’s promotion to Managing Director of Competition for his current position of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Director. He will continue in his Sprint Cup Series Director position until a successor is found. In his new position of Managing Director of Competition, he will oversee all three national series’ (Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Camping World Truck) directors, officials, inspection processes, and race officiating.

“Probably no on is more qualified for this new job than John,” NASCAR Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton said. “He knows and understands the officiating and inspection processes better than anyone and is the perfect fit.” - Full Story by Amanda Vincent – Louisville NASCAR Examiner
