(Daytona Beach, FL) February 14, 2010 – Mike Bliss was caught up in an early crash in the 52^nd running of the Daytona 500 and was unable to fully recover from the damage.  On lap 8 the No. 12 car of Brad Keselowski suffered a flat tire and started a multi-car crash that ultimately ended with the No. 13 of Max Papis rear-ending Bliss.  The TBR Wave Energy Drink team was able to work on the car and continue racing until a spin on lap 78 and contact with the wall in turn three ended the day for the team.  The Wave Energy Drink Chevy was the first car one lap down at the time of the crash.

“I guess qualifying with a backup car on Thursday was our biggest day here,” said Bliss, who was unhurt in the crash.  “We felt really good about the Wave Energy Drink Chevrolet at that point, but the race really didn’t go too well for us.  We got out there and rode around for a few laps and were waiting to see how everything played out. Then we had to slow down for a wreck and just got clobbered in the rear.  The rest of the day went really bad.  It wrecked our wing and the car was just really loose.  I guess it could have been worse though.  I’m just real proud of the guys and that we had the opportunity to be here today.”

Bliss had raced his way into the 500 despite having to go to a back-up car due to a crash in Wednesday’s final practice session.

The team now sets its sights on the Auto Club 500 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California next weekend.  The race will air Sunday February 21^st, at 3 p.m. EST on FOX.
