KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 29 SHELL-PENNZOIL CHEVROLET, met with members of the media at Texas Motor Speedway and discussed green-white-checkered finishes, Talladega and other topics.  Full transcript:

DID YOU NOTICE ANYTHING WITH THE SPOILER IN PRACTICE? “No. It is no different. It has been no different since the Charlotte test. Been no different at any other race tracks. It has been no different anywhere.”

DO YOU THINK IT WILL RACE DIFFERENT HERE? “I have no idea, haven’t raced it yet.”

ON THE GREEN-WHITE-CHECKERS, DO YOU AND YOUR CREW CHIEF TALK STRATEGY BEFORE THE RACE? “It really all just depends on where you are as far as how your car is handling, where you are running on the race track. There are just a lot of things that it comes down to as far as what makes that decision at the end of the race as far as taking two tires, four tires. It just really depends where you are running and how your car is going.”

DID KASEY KAHNE’S IMPACT WHAT YOU DO? “No. I’m happy to be at Texas. I love it.”

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT FOR THE PETTY NAME TO STAY IN NASCAR? “I think it is very important. I think with Richard being such a huge part of this sport and everything he has done for the sport. Whether it is a team or not a team, I think Richard Petty will always be a part of this sport in some way, shape or form.”

HOW DO YOU THINK THE CARS ARE GOING TO REACT IN THE DRAFT AT TALLADEGA WITH THE SPOILER? “I really don’t know what the rules package wound up being to be honest with you, but I know they drafted very well. The speeds closing up were really fast and I think that was NASCAR’s biggest concern. The cars drove great even when they were running 208-209 miles-an-hour, they still feel very secure. I think the race is going to be good.”

WILL IT BE A DIFFERENT TALLADEGA? “I don’t think it will be much different that it normally is. It will be typical Talladega, three wide, exciting, pushing and shoving. The biggest thing that has changed Talladega is just the grip that the race track has.”

YOU ARE GOING TO TALLADEGA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YOUR OWN NATIONWIDE CAR AND HAVEN’T RACED IN NATIONWIDE FOR SEVERAL YEARS, TALK ABOUT YOUR THOUGHTS: “I don’t that I have ever actually raced my own car there. I hadn’t really ever thought about that. That is a good point. It will be fun. Those cars have been really good on the speedways and they were really happy with the way that the car ran at the desert so it should be a lot of fun to drive next week.”

WILL ANYTHING TRANSFER FROM YOUR DAYTONA NATIONWIDE CARS TO TALLADEGA? “Hopefully the fast cars that we had. That will be the biggest thing that transfers.”

WILL YOU HAVE THE CAR THAT WON DAYTONA AT TALLADEGA? “That will be my backup car.”
