BROOKLYN, Mich. (May 13, 2010) — NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Brad Keselowski made a visit to home state and hometown Detroit Tigers on Thursday, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch along with Detroit Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom, just prior to the game against the New York Yankees at Comerica Park.

Keselowski’s pitch was high, but right down the middle to Tiger’s outfielder Magglio Ordonez.

Keselowski, a native of nearby suburb Rochester Hills, was in Detroit supporting the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 race weekend, scheduled for June 11-13 at Michigan International Speedway. He will return to the Irish Hills in a month after making his Sprint Cup Series debut at MIS last August, finishing 24th. He also won the Nationwide Series race that same weekend.

“I was really looking forward to throwing out the first pitch,” Keselowski said. “I always take advantage of the opportunities to come back home to Michigan and support my hometown state, the Tigers and Michigan International Speedway. The Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 race weekend is a month away and I can’t wait to come back and race in the Irish Hills very soon.”

The driver of the No. 12 Penske Racing Dodge also visited with members of the local media at Hockeytown Café before the game.

“I’m in a great situation with Penske Racing and am very fortunate to have these opportunities as a racecar driver,” he said. “I really wasn’t much of a baseball or football player growing up so racing was a great fit for me. I did manage to get a little pitching practice in before today though. I’m just happy to be here supporting MIS and visiting Comerica Park and the Tigers for the first time.”

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.
