Henrico County Police Athletic League Nabs $8,000 Through NASCAR Day Pin Donations at Richmond International Raceway

Dozens of Henrico County police officers, board members and volunteers combined efforts to canvas the Richmond International Raceway property, offering the commemorative pins to more than 100,000 fans who visited America’s Premier Short track during the race weekend.
“We are so proud of the efforts from Henrico County Police Athletic League during our NASCAR weekend,” said track president Doug Fritz. “We truly appreciate the support from our fans who flexed their charitable muscle by donating to such a worthy cause.”
Funds raised through Richmond International Raceway’s NASCAR Day pin sales are split between Henrico County PAL and The NASCAR Foundation. The donations will be used to support many of the Henrico County PAL programs, including the after school program, summer camp, Johnny Newman Basketball Camp and youth leadership program.
NASCAR returns to Richmond International Raceway September 10-11 for one of the most anticipated doubleheader weekends this season. “One Last Race to Make The Chase” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is the final event before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Once the checkered flag flies on Saturday, September 11, only the top 12 drivers in the point standings will be eligible for the series championship. The weekend begins on Friday, September 10, with a full day of on-track activity highlighted by the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race “under the lights.” Friday’s ticket includes Fas Mart Pole Qualifying and practice for the Sprint Cup Series and WRIC-TV8 Pole Qualifying and practice for the Nationwide Series. Friday’s tickets start at $30 and can be purchased by calling 866-455-RACE or logging on to www.rir.com. Children 12 and younger are admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections on Friday only.
