Rookie Ready to Race at Track where He Gets ‘Goose Bumps’

Statesville, N.C. (June 29, 2010) - With a new restrictor plate increasing horsepower for cars at Daytona International Speedway, Saturday night’s Coke Zero 400 could produce the fastest racing the series has seen in a while. Kevin Conway and the No. 34 ExtenZe/WINGS Racing team are certainly ready to jump in on the action.

The leading NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Raybestos Rookie of the Year driver will make his eagerly awaited Daytona debut this weekend at the famed 2.5-mile oval in Daytona, Fla.

Conway captured his 16th straight Rookie of the Race award last week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and extended his lead for Rookie of the Year honors by 138 points.

This weekend in Daytona, as part of a three-race deal that was announced earlier this year around the Coca-Cola 600, WINGS (America’s best beach store) will adorn Conway’s Ford Fusion as an associate sponsor and will be back on the car at the season finale in Homestead in November.

Also, as part of this deal, WINGS is carrying ExtenZe Racing slogan T-shirts and board shorts in some of its stores across the best beaches in America.

ExtenZe Racing Driver Kevin Conway Comments on His Daytona Debut and the New Restrictor Plate:

“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to race at Daytona International Speedway finally. Not having the opportunity to run the 500 this year killed me, having to be there and just watch. To finally have the opportunity in the Sprint Cup Series to run at Daytona is a dream come true.

“There’s so much history at that racetrack. I still get goose bumps every time I go through the tunnel at Daytona. I’m also excited to run the last race on the old surface before they repave it. It’s pretty cool that you get to be a part of history in that way.

“The whole ExtenZe Racing team has been doing better and better and we have a lot of momentum heading into Daytona. We had a less-than-stellar superspeedway debut at Talladega with the mechanical failure that didn’t really allow us to run like we wanted to and learn as much as we wanted to. So, I’m looking forward to learning a lot and I’m excited to get there.

“With the Daytona (restrictor) plate race being more of a handling race than Talladega, I think the larger restrictor plate is just going to make things a little bit better for race fans and improve the actual quality of the race instead of having one big pack. Hopefully it will enable some guys to actually pull out and pass.

“The guys with good-handling cars will be the ones that go to the front. But the bigger restrictor plate with the whole aero package that we have now with the spoiler and all those different elements will factor in to ultimately be a much better race. And I think it’s going to give the cars a little more drivability with the added power.”
