Brickyard Memorable for Ambrose and JTG Daugherty Racing
Press Release
Now, the Australian driver is midway through his second full season of Cup competition as he returns to hallow ground in the No. 47 Kroger Toyota backed by Kleenex supporting Riley Hospital for Children during his third Brickyard 400.
“When I made the Cup race in 2008, I was so anxious because it was a make or break deal for me,” said Ambrose. “Being able to qualify and finish the race with JTG Daugherty Racing really pushed me forward. It was such a big weekend for me professionally and personally. It was a step toward racing in the division full-time.”
In his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series attempt, Ambrose earned a respectable 22nd-place finish in his Brickyard debut. Returning to the 2.5-mile oval last season he matched the result. Now, he’s hoping for a stronger delivery to add to his five top-five, 10 top-10 and 24 top-15 career finishes.
“I think if we can come away with at least a top-10 finish, that would be a good day for us,” Ambrose said. “The Brickyard is one of the fastest and coolest tracks on the circuit. That place will take your breath away. To win there would be incredible.”
For his third visit to the Brickyard, Ambrose carries Kroger on the hood of his No. 47 Toyota backed by Bush’s Baked Beans, Clorox, Cottonelle, and Kingsford Charcoal on the rest of the car. Kroger is also running a special decal on the top of the hood for its annual fund-raising efforts to support Riley Hospital for Children.
“Kroger is giving back by raising contributions through in-store programs such as icon and holiday card sales,” Ambrose said. “It’s great to have Kroger back on the car with all of our JTG Daugherty Racing sponsors.
“Also, with our association with The Clorox Company and Kimberly-Clark Corporation, we’re trying to remind everyone to think of the Clorox and Kleenex brands to help keep your family healthy,” Ambrose continued. “Clorox Bleach and cleaning products kill 99.9% of germs and viruses on surfaces and having Kleenex with you prevents spreading germs through the air. With two little ones at the house, I make sure I’m stocked up with both brands.”
Live coverage of the Brickyard 400 on Sunday, July 25 begins at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN. IMS and Sirius XM Satellite Radio will also air the event.
