CLINT BOWYER, NO. 33 THE HARTFORD CHEVROLET, met with members of the media at Pocono Raceway to discuss racing at Pocono, drivers making controversial comments about NASCAR, and more.

TALK ABOUT COMING TO POCONO, YOU HAVE SIX RACES LEFT BEFORE THE CUT OFF FOR THE CHASE AND CERTAINLY YOU WOULD LIKE TO GAIN SOME GROUND IN THE STANDINGS AS POCONO APPROACHES.

“Oh yeah, coming into Pocono here we’re full of excitement. We’re coming off of two top-five finishes, two very strong runs; our last race here we were very strong here, led a lot of laps and had a lot of fun.  We didn’t make the right decisions at the end and ended up not getting the result that we were looking for and like I felt I deserved.  None the less, we ran well and we’re looking forward to having another good run.”

CLINT HAS ANYONE FROM NASCAR EVER CALLED YOU UP AND REMINDED YOU THAT YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN’T HAVE SAID SOMETHING THAT YOU DID SAY? OR HAVE YOU EVER REGRETTED SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT THE SPORT AFTER THE FACT?

“No.  I don’t know.  We’re all in this together.  It’s not different than you guys.  If you guys, specifically, are bad mouthing everything it is really going to make us look bad.  We’re all in this together.  We owe it to ourselves to make sure that things stay positive and upbeat.  I think the racing this year has been awesome.  I don’t think that you could ask for better racing than what we have been having.  The green-white-checkered, the double-file restarts, and everything that they have done to make the racing what it is, is awesome.”

YOU’VE TALKED ABOUT THE LAST COUPLE TIMES AT POCONO WHEN YOU HAVE HAD A FEW STRONG RUNS, WHAT HAS HELPED TURNED IT AROUND FOR YOU HERE?  HAVE YOU HIT ON SOMETHING?

“Absolutely.  When I first came here I was terrible; I’ll be the first to admit that.  I couldn’t get comfortable, I couldn’t figure out where I needed to be.  I was kind of a fish out of water.  I feel like I’ve gotten better as a driver, we’ve gotten better as a team definitely.  Our cars are strong, our motors are strong, and this is definitely a track where that recipe works the most.”
