NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race Notes:

RCR at The Glen … In 46 starts at Watkins Glen International, RCR boasts two wins (Robby Gordon 2003, Kevin Harvick 2006), eight top-five and 18 top-10 finishes with seven different drivers. Additionally, Dale Earnhardt won three poles (1990, ’92, ’96) at the high-speed, 11-turn central New York circuit.

The Collective RCR … Over the season’s first 21 races, RCR’s three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entries have notched two points-paying wins, 17 top-five and 35 top-10 finishes. The No. 29 team kicked off the 2010 season with a win in the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona. They followed that up with a win at Talladega Superspeedway in April and again at Daytona in July. RCR-prepared Chevrolets have also completed 17,858 out of 18,483 total laps (96.6 percent) with drivers Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton and Harvick, who have led a combined 678 laps.

Did You Know … The Welcome, N.C.-based race team is tied with Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing as organizations that have led laps at all the races NASCAR’s senior circuit has visited this season except for three. At least one RCR driver has led laps in the season’s first 21 events with the lone exceptions being Phoenix, Michigan and Pocono in August. The three races that Hendrick Motorsports have not led at least one lap at are Atlanta, Pocono in June and Michigan while Sonoma, Chicago and Indianapolis are the facilities that Joe Gibbs Racing drivers have not led at during the 2010 Sprint Cup Series campaign.

Get to the Points … With five races remaining until the Chase for the Sprint Cup, all three of RCR’s Sprint Cup Series drivers are in the top 12 of the overall championship point standings following last weekend’s race in Pocono. Shell-Pennzoil driver Harvick remains atop the standings, for the 12th consecutive week, and leads Caterpillar driver Burton, who leapfrogged two spots to fifth, by 323 markers. The Cheerios/Hamburger Helper-sponsored driver Bowyer maintained the 12th-place spot and holds a 34-point advantage over 13th.

The Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio will also carry the race broadcast live. Qualifying for the 22nd points-paying event on the Sprint Cup Series calendar is scheduled for Saturday, August 7, beginning at 11 a.m. EDT and will be telecast live on ESPN.
