MARTINSVILLE, Va. (August 13, 2010) – Martinsville Speedway will again host two NASCAR Sprint Cup races in 2011, but both  races will be a week later than in recent years.

NASCAR announced today that the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 is scheduled for Sunday, April 3 while the TUMS Fast Relief 500 will be held on Sunday, October 30.

“There was quite a bit of shuffling in the schedule for next year and we are really pleased with the new dates NASCAR has for us,” said Martinsville Speedway President W. Clay Campbell. “Our spring date is a little further into spring and our second date still falls at a very comfortable time in this part of Virginia. We think that both of our 2011 dates are great for our fans and should provide two great weekends.”

The Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 will be the sixth race of the season while the TUMS Fast Relief 500 will be the seventh race in the NASCAR Chase for Sprint Cup.

“Our fall race has always been a pivotal race in the Chase, but with it a race deeper in the Chase in 2011, it’s bigger than ever. The TUMS Fast Relief 500 is still the only short-track race in the Chase and that always produces excitement and movement in the points,” said Campbell. “And the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 falls right when fans are really getting excited about the new season. From a fans perspective, these are really great slots in the schedule.”

Again in 2011, both of Martinsville’s Sprint Cup races will be accompanied by a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. The Kroger 250 will be held on Saturday, April 2, the day before the Goodys’ Fast Pain Relief 500 and the Kroger 200 will be held on Saturday, October 29, the day before the TUMS Fast Relief 500.

The 2010 season concludes at Martinsville Speedway with the TUMS Fast Relief 500 on October 24.
