Insignia HD/Best Buy Hood Finds a New Home

25 August 2010 (Charlotte, NC)–NASCAR Sprint Cup racer AJ Allmendinger put a pair of his favorite things into play as he mixed golf and charity this week. AJ hit the links at Birkdale Golf Course in Huntersville, North Carolina, as part of the Grin Kids Charity and Celebrity Open to benefit ACE & TJ’s Grin Kids, a non-profit 501c3 charity created by morning show personalities ACE & TJ in Charlotte.

The event was first staged in 2003 and is sponsored by Best Buy as well as enjoying support from Galway Hooker and a host of other partners. Best Buy had a physical presence at the event as well, as the Insignia HD/Best Buy-liveried hood that AJ carried to fourth at Watkins Glen International earlier this month was auctioned as part of the various fund-raising activity taking place.

“It was a fun afternoon and I’m happy to be here and help support the Grin Kids,” said AJ. “This was just another example of something cool that Best Buy is involved with, and I was glad to be involved. How could you not want to help support something called ‘Grin Kids?’ I’ve been really impressed with what ACE and T.J. have done through the years and of course it makes it even better that it’s something I really enjoy doing like playing golf.”

About the Grin Kids Charity & Celebrity Open:

The Grin Kids Charity & Celebrity Open formed in 2003. The objective of the weekend long event is to bring people together in a fun, interactive environment, and raise money for the most important resource of all, our children! ACE & TJ’s Grin Kids is a non-profit 501c3 charity, created by morning show personalities ACE & TJ in Charlotte, North Carolina in January of 2000. The name of the organization comes from ACE & TJ’s motto on their morning show, “You Grin, You’re In!”

ACE & TJ’s Grin Kids is designed to enhance the lives of children who are terminally ill and chronically handicapped, ages five through twelve, in the listening area. Each year, ACE & TJ’s Grin Kids takes as many children as financially possible to Disney World with their parents and siblings. Because of their special needs and financial strain, this is an experience that many of these children and families would not be able to know without the help of ACE & TJ’s Grin Kids.

Besides continuing to work on his swing and his normal intense physical training schedule,  AJ will likely spend at least part of his off weekend scouting for new games at a local Best Buy before hitting the road for Sunday’s Emory Healthcare 500
