Gilliland and ‘New’ Taco Bell Team Making Strides
Press ReleaseLooking to Take More Speed to Kansas

The 1.5-mile tri-oval is still somewhat of a new track for Gilliland, who has just three starts at Kansas in his Sprint Cup career. His best finish is 22nd.
Comments from Taco Bell Driver David Gilliland on Kansas Speedway and Progress of New Team:
“Kansas Speedway has been kind of tricky. It’s kind of a different track. I do like the mile-and-a-half tracks, but we tend to be better at the ones with more banking, so Kansas is usually a little tougher. But we will work on the car here at the shop and hopefully we’ll bring a good package to the track, run well and bring home a good finish.
“I’ve only raced at Kansas a few times, so I think that’s part of it. Obviously, the more you run on a track, the more comfortable you get with it and the more you learn what works well there. With NASCAR adding a second race for Kansas next year, I guess we’ll all be getting more laps there.
“I have a lot of confidence in this team. We’ve been working well together and making good progress on our Taco Bell Ford Fusions. It’s only been a few weeks that we’ve been working together as a team, but we’re making good strides. We’re bringing fast cars to the track and we’re making good changes when we get there. We can still make some gains in the races we have left this year.
“We had a good car at Dover (Del.) last week. The team did a great job getting it ready in practice and we qualified the car pretty easily on speed, so we were feeling pretty confident going into the race. We wound up not finishing as high as we thought we were going to, but we still earned some good points for the ’38′ car, which is what we’ve been working for at Front Row.”
