NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race Notes:
One Trophy Missing from the Shelf … Surprisingly enough, in 27 NSCS starts at Kansas Speedway, RCR has only two top-five and seven top-10 finishes, including sixth- and seventh-place finishes by Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton, respectively, two years ago. RCR’s best finish at Kansas was Clint Bowyer’s runner-up finish in 2007. All told, RCR has a 24.6 starting average and a 17th-place average finish at the metropolitan Kansas City race course. The only other tracks on the current schedule where RCR hasn’t earned Sprint Cup Series wins are Auto Club Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The Collective RCR … Over the season’s first 28 races, RCR’s three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entries have notched four points-paying wins, 23 top-five and 45 top-10 finishes. The No. 29 team kicked off the 2010 season with a win in the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona. They followed that up with a win at Talladega Superspeedway in April, Daytona in July and Michigan in August. Bowyer and the No. 33 team took the checkers two weeks ago at New Hampshire. RCR-prepared Chevrolets have also completed 24,481 out of 25,128 total laps (97.4 percent) with drivers Bowyer, Burton and Harvick, who have led a combined 960 laps. At least one RCR driver has led laps in 23 of the season’s first 28 events, with the exceptions being Phoenix, Michigan, Pocono, Watkins Glen and Dover.
Three for Three … For the third time since the Chase for the Sprint Cup came to be in 2004, all three of RCR’s fulltime NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams have qualified for, and will compete in, the 2010 Chase for the Sprint Cup. All three drivers – Bowyer, Burton and Harvick – will vie for the Cup, hoping to snap a 16-year winless championship streak.
Chasin’ the Cup … With the first two races of the Chase for the Sprint Cup in the record books, Harvick sits fifth in the point standings, 65 markers in arrears to the point leader. Burton gained two positions and 32 points on the leader with his runner-up finish in Dover last weekend that leaves him seventh in the rundown, 80 points out of the top spot. Bowyer remains 12th in the standings, 235 points behind the leader.

Catch the Action … Flag-to-flag coverage of the Price Chopper 400 from Kansas Speedway will take the green flag Sunday, October 3, beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on ESPN. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the Round 3 of the Chase for the Sprint Cup will be televised live on SPEED Friday, October 1, beginning at 4:30 p.m. EDT and will also broadcast live on MRN and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.
