Joey Logano / No. 20 GameStop Toyota Preview

Tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

  • HEY GAMESTOP!  WELCOME TO THE SPRINT CUP SERIES:  The Tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway will mark the first foray into the Sprint Cup Series for the longtime Joe Gibbs Racing supporter.  GameStop first partnered with JGR in 2008 when Joey Logano made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Dover International Speedway.  Just two races later, Logano took GameStop to victory lane, winning at Kentucky Speedway and becoming the youngest Nationwide Series victor of all time.  Since those first couple of races, GameStop has been synonymous with Logano, JGR and the No. 20 in the Nationwide Series.  GameStop has went to victory lane with Logano on seven occasions during his Nationwide Series career.  GameStop has also taken a unique approach to their Nationwide Series sponsorship with JGR.  Since 2008, the No. 20 GameStop Toyota has featured more than 35 different paint schemes promoting a number of popular video games, gaming systems and gaming accessories.
  • MARTINSVILLE MAGIC:  Joey nearly pulled off a victory in the spring NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Martinsville Speedway, finishing second to Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin.  The finish was Logano’s best in the Cup Series since his win in 2009 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  Joey and the No. 20 team have made three-career Sprint Cup Series starts at the paperclip-shaped half-mile since breaking onto the scene in 2009.  In addition to his second-place finish at the track earlier this year, Logano has finishes of 12th and 32nd at the track.  His career-best qualifying effort at Martinsville came in the fall race of 2009, where he started seventh.
  • POWERUP REWARDS TO POWER NO. 20:  The No. 20 GameStop Toyota will feature the look of the PowerUp Rewards program this weekend in Martinsville.  The PowerUp Rewards program rewards the most passionate of GameStop gamers by offering savings on purchases while also providing members-only specials, discounts and news emailed directly to users.  The program is simple.  Sign up at your local GameStop retail location, buy stuff, trade games, earn points and get rewards.  Points can be redeemed for things like GameStop Gift Cards and Merchandise, restaurant and movie rewards, iTunes Gift Cards, subscriptions to Playstation®Network, Xbox LIVE®, and more, codes to unlock exclusive in-game accessories and point cards for all gaming platforms.  Other benefits include newsletters, invitations to exclusive events and sales, and entries to Epic Reward Giveaways (be a beta tester for a week, one-of-a-kind trips, NASCAR experiences, life-size statues and more).  For more information visit, www.PowerUpRewards.com.
  • LOGANO COMING ON STRONG:  Joey and the No. 20 team have been hitting their strides the last couple of weeks in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.  Logano has raced his way to two top-five and three top-10 finishes in his last six events, including a third-place finish at Dover and a near miss of 11th at California.  Logano’s qualifying efforts have also improved as of late.  He qualified third at Bristol, sixth at Richmond and fourth at Kansas in recent weeks.  With last week’s top-10 finish at Charlotte, Logano jumped up two positions in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings as well.
  • THAT’S ONE SUCCESSFUL CAR: The No. 20 GameStop team is taking chassis #275 this weekend.  This will be the fourth time this chassis will be raced this season, and it has three top-10 finishes.  Logano piloted chassis #275 to a third-place finish at Dover International Speedway, ninth-place finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and crossed the stripe 10th at Michigan in August.
  • STAT OF THE WEEK: 135. The Martinsville Sprint Cup Series event will be the 135th-career NASCAR start for Logano in NASCAR’s three major national touring series.  It will be Logano’s 71st-career Sprint Cup Series start.  Logano has also made 63-career starts in the No. 20 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Nationwide Series.  He also has one-career Camping World Truck Series start, coming back in 2008 at Talladega Superspeedway.
  • FEATURED ON THE No. 20: GameStop District 211 in Columbus, OH, will be the featured on the c-post of the No. 20 GameStop Toyota this weekend in Martinsville.  District 211 has been instrumental in the nation-wide rollout of PowerUp Rewards.

Joey Logano Quotes:

“I’m excited to get back to Martinsville after the run that we had there earlier in the season.  We ran strong all day long and found ourselves in contention to have a shot to win the race during that last green-white-checkered run.  After that race, I really felt like we ran as good as we have together as team and that we would have a great shot at making the Chase.  But since we weren’t fortunate enough to make the Chase, now we can go out there and throw caution to the win and see if we can improve one more spot this time around and get the No. 20 GameStop Toyota into Victory Lane.

“I feel like I’ve really improved at Martinsville since the first time we went there in 2009.  This is a place where you think it’s just a half-mile track, so how hard to it be, right?  Well, it’s a difficult place.  Being so flat and with such tight corners, you really have to have a great setup under the car and really take care of your brakes.  I learned a lot more about what I needed there in the spring and I think that will make us that much better this time around.

“I’m really excited to have GameStop on the Cup car this weekend.  GameStop has been a great company to work with, and they’ve been with me since I came into the big leagues of NASCAR in 2008.  One of the best things about having GameStop as a sponsor is how they look for new ways to reward their customers.  I’m all about getting something in return for my purchases, and the rewards GameStop has put into PowerUp Rewards are awesome. This should be a special weekend for all of the GameStop employees and fans out there.  I’m looking forward to it.”
