QUALIFYING HERE AT MARTINSVILLE IS CHALLENGING.  “It really is and in the spring qualifying got rained out so this is the first time we got to make a qualifying run at Martinsville.  Ever since we unloaded we’ve been incredibly tight and we’re just really trying to sort these cars out.  We’re struggling really bad and we haven’t been able to get these cars to turn at any racetrack, whether it’s a two-mile racetrack or a half-mile racetrack so we’ve got to go back and do some homework.  The thing is we’re locked in this week so we spent most of the practice making race runs.  Hopefully we’ll get our ExtenZe Camry a whole lot better for the race and go from there.”

WHAT DO YOU NEED THE CAR TO DO HERE IN THE RACE?  “I think the biggest thing you need the car to do here at Martinsville is to continue to rotate through the center and still maintain that forward bite up off.  The cars get super-tight because of all the brake heat and just how tight the corners are.  The handling goes away so you really have to make sure that you have your Raybestos brakes working right and got to make sure you get it stopped so that you can turn and make sure you get power down out of the corners.  Tomorrow we’ll work on longer runs and try to get our ExtenZe Toyota a little bit better.”
