NEW AND NOTES FROM THE WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER PROGRAM – NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES

  • Jeff Burton was the WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race in the October 24 TUMS Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, leading five times for a race-high 134 laps.
  • Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin are tied for the lead (6-6) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings entering the October 31 AMP Energy 500 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
  • Jeff Burton led five times for a race-high 28 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in the 2010 Aaron’s 499 at Talladega.
  • The 2010 Aaron’s 499 featured a record number of lead changes (88) and different leaders (29), the most ever in 82 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Talladega.
  • DID YOU KNOW? The driver leading the most laps has won the last TWO CONSECUTIVE fall races at Talladega and claimed FIVE wins and eight top-five finishes in the 10 most recent fall races (average finish is 6.3).

  • THREE drivers in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup have led the most laps in the fall race at Talladega: Tony Stewart (2008 and 2005), Denny Hamlin (2007) and Jeff Gordon (2003 and 1999).
  • The record for most laps led by a race winner at Talladega is 153 by Pete Hamilton in 1970.
