After an exciting finish to an exciting race (which even took NASCAR a couple minutes to determine the winner – unofficially) it was Richard Childress Racing’s  Bowyer and Harvick finishing first and second respectively in the NSCS AMP Energy Juice 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

After the white flag had been thrown, up front was  Bowyer being bump drafted by Juan Pablo Montoya on the bottom (of the track) and Harvick being pushed by David Reutimann on the top. As the foursome (side-by-side) were heading into turns 3 and 4, a wrecked occurred behind the leaders, which brought out the caution and ending the race .

After a couple minutes of reviewing timing/scoring loops and video footage, NASCAR determined that Bowyer was ahead of Harvick at the time of the caution coming out.

This was Clint Bowyer’s fourth series career win, his second series win of the 2010 season, his first series/restrictor plate win and gives Richard Childress his 11th series victory as an owner at Talladega Superspeedway (the most amongst car owners).

Rounding out the unofficial top-ten (as NASCAR will review all data before making their final/official determination) were Juan Pablo Montoya finishing in third, David Reutimann finishing fourth, Joey Logano fifth, Martin Truex Jr. sixth, Jimmie Johnson seventh, Jeff Gordon eighth, Denny Hamlin ninth and Brad Keselowski finishing tenth.

Unofficially, with the current series points leader Jimmie Johnson finishing in seventh, and second in the points Denny Hamlin finishing ninth, Johnson now leads Hamlin by 14 points with three races left of the season.
