New website caps the off-season, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie Lofton ready for Daytona
Press Release
Though Lofton won’t climb behind the wheel of his No. 7 Toyota Tundra until next Wednesday in preparation for the 250-mile race on Friday the 12th, he will be heading south a week early.
Along with other members of the Weekend Warriors TV production team, Lofton will land in south Florida this weekend in order to take in the short track action at New Smyrna Speedway (a track he recently tested with his No. 7 Red Horse Racing team) and Volusia Speedway to film segments for an upcoming Weekend Warriors TV (found at WeekendWarriorsTV.com) episode.
Once filming is complete, Lofton will head to the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway for two full days of practice and qualifying before finally climbing behind the wheel of his No. 7 Toyota for his competitive debut in the NCWTS in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 on Friday, February 12th.
“I can’t wait to get to Florida. As a racer, the off-season is always tough because you just want to be at the racetrack. It felt so good to get in the truck last month when we tested New Smyrna,” Lofton said. “ I can’t wait to get back to racing and get the season started.”
Lofton, the 2009 ARCA Racing Series champion, has a stellar record on superspeedways. Last season he earned the pole for ARCA’s season-opener at Daytona, before finishing a solid third. To follow up the run, in April at Talladega Superspeedway, a comparable 2.66-mile high-speed track, he won his first of six races.
