As a rookie, drivers tend to race at track they have never raced at before, but for Brett Butler this is not the case as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Martinsville Speedway for the Kroger 250 on March 27th.

Butler, driving the #47 Fuel Doctor USA Chevy for Rick Ware Racing has some experience at the ½ mile track known as “The Paperclip”.

“I have raced at Martinsville twice now in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, both times in 2009,” stated Butler.

“I love racing on these short tracks ever since my USAR Pro Cup days and I think it’s safe to say that nearly all of us in the Camping World Truck Series enjoy racing at Martinsville.”

The side-by-side and fender rubbing of Martinsville is grass roots racing as it gets, and Butler is ready for the challenge.

“I got to race last fall against the truck I’m in this week. I am pumped. Though they had part failure, when they came back out on the track it was wicked fast. So fast actually that when we discussed me coming over to Rick Ware Racing I requested that truck for this race!”

Butler, sits in the 10th position in the Drivers Standings, and is currently 3rd in the Rookie of the Year points, but he likes his chances to improve that this weekend.

“I love this time of the year. The NCAA March Madness is going on and that event always reminds you that at anytime, an underdog has a chance to win. We feel the same way here at Ware Racing. The truck is excellent. I have plenty of laps here, and with short track racing, anything and everything is possible. Every dog has his day.”

When asked what he has been doing in the past few weeks, Brett smirks, “I am being the Alpha Dog! Alpha Dog Training that is!”

Butler has started his own company, Alpha Dog Training, where he trains obedience to his K-9 companions.

“I have always worked with dogs and have trained several with another company and thought it was time to start my own organization. We just got the van all wrapped and looking sharp and my new clients are learning their new commands quite well,” Brett continued.

“It is always nice to have some quite time, but I am looking forward to a good ole’ dog fight at Martinsville.”

Practice begins on 10:00am EST on Friday with qualifying at 4:40pm EST. The Kroger 250 will air on SPEED on Saturday the 27th at 2:00pm EST.
