March 30, 2010 (Mooresville, N.C.) – – After last week’s fresh paint scheme for the Germain.com Tundra, this week, Germain Racing will unleash driver Todd Bodine in a brand new race truck. The chassis, TRD-131, has never been on track. The last time Germain Racing went to the race track with a brand new, untested truck was in 2008. The team unloaded TRD-130 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, started 8th, led 20 laps and finished 9th.

“Every team, every driver wants to have new equipment. Ron Hornaday (Jr.) and Kevin Harvick have been getting all of their wins in new race trucks. They have been building new trucks and winning races. I have a ton of confidence in Mike Jr. and the Germain.com Tundra team that they can build a good, new race truck. Hopefully the new truck winning streak will work for us, too,” said Bodine, alluding to last week’s race winner, Harvick’s, revelation that his winning truck was brand new.

Building new trucks is just part of the battle, keeping up with the technology and setup trends that make the truck go fast are critical to running up front, as crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. explained.

“Keeping up with technology is an important part of keeping your race truck up front, in front of the camera and in front of the competition. This year Germain Racing has worked hard in the off-season to build new race trucks and refresh our older trucks. We continue seeking sponsors, but that doesn’t distract us from our commitment to winning races—in fact it probably adds a little fuel to that fire.

When we win in the Germain.com Tundra, we know it’s a win for Germain Motor Company, which makes everyone at Germain Racing very proud. But, we also want to win to remind potential sponsors of the fun they could be having if they became a part of the Tundra team that’s won more races than any other Tundra team—our No. 30 at Germain Racing,” said Hillman.

Last season at Nashville, the No. 30 Tundra team saw a solid shot at victory snatched from their grips as the truck suffered a flat tire at lap 145, the same lap number that saw the truck lose a rear end just weeks before when the team was in position to win at Kentucky. In 2008, Bodine started from the pole position at Nashville and came home third after leading 74 laps.

“We’ve had at least two races at Nashville that we should’ve won. With the way we’ve been able to perform there, there’s no reason for our team to go to Nashville and think we couldn’t get a win. Everyone wants to get a guitar trophy. I’ve been racing at Nashville for a long time and still haven’t got one,” said Bodine, talking about the highly coveted custom Gibson guitar that Nashville Speedway gives away to its race winner as the trophy.

Crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. agrees that the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra, the leading Tundra team in wins over all other Toyota truck teams, has come very, very close at Nashville.

“There isn’t a track on our schedule where our team isn’t capable of winning, but at Nashville, where we’ve been so strong, it’s definitely a track we’d like to add to our ‘win’ column,” said Hillman.

Look for Bodine to race the No. 30 Germain.com Tundra Friday night at 8:00 PM ET at Nashville Superspeedway for 150 laps with live coverage on SPEED and MRN. Qualifying is at 5 PM on Friday.
