Wildwood, MO native Jesse Smith will make his NASCAR debut in the Camping World Truck Series at Kansas Speedway on May 2 for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250. Smith will pilot the #90 Hormel Foods / Lloyd’s BBQ Toyota Tundra for Stringer Motorsports.

Smith’s NASCAR debut comes at the venue in which he has the most experience. In two ARCA Series starts at the 1.5 mile oval in Kansas City, KS, Smith recorded a career best third place finish in May ’08 and has combined to lead 32 laps in those two starts. In addition to his two starts at Kansas, Smith has competed in a total of fourteen ARCA events, recording four top five and six top ten finishes.

“I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to compete in the Camping World Truck Series for Stringer Motorsports” Smith said. “I feel that Kansas Speedway is a perfect place to start because of the performance we’ve had there in the ARCA Series as well as being from the Midwest, growing up nearby in Missouri. I’ve got to thank Doug Stringer, everyone at Stringer Motorsports, Child’s Tire, and Hormel Foods. This is a giant step for my career, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish.”

Smith will work with Camping World Truck Series championship crew chief Trip Bruce, who joined Stringer Motorsports in 2010. Smith will be making the team’s third start of the 2010, and is the third different driver to pilot the #90 Toyota.

“Trip is a great crew chief and leader” Smith said. “He knows his way around these trucks and it gives me a boost of confidence knowing he’s in our corner. He’s won a lot of races throughout his career in the Truck Series, and I hope we can do the same.”

The O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway will be live on SPEED at 1PM EST on May 2nd and broadcast live on MRN Radio and SIRIUS XM satellite radio.
