JUSTIN LOFTON, No. 7 VISITPIT.COM TOYOTA:

“Yeah it was awesome. I really knew when we unloaded the truck was good. I was a little worried. I figured we’d end up about fifth, fifth to seventh somewhere but when these guys started running out of gas we did a great job getting the gas into our truck. The guys did an excellent job on pit road. They picked me up spots every stop. I just want to really think visitpit.com and Red Horse Racing, Toyota Tundra.”

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO GET SOME MOMENTUM GOING WITH THIS THIRD-PLACE RUN?

“This is big for us, especially going into Charlotte and going into this stretch. We really needed it. All of us were kind of getting down on ourself. I’ve got the hardest working group of guys out there and to reward ‘em with this was pretty cool. Two spots would have been even better though.”

COMMENT ON THE LAST COUPLE OF RESTARTS.

“It was pretty cool. Wild things happen here and it was really, really cool. And luckily enough we were behind the guys that did run out of gas to get us up there. I think we had something for the 51 but coming up off the corner it was sputtering and I was shaking it down the backstretch going into the center of the corner it’d sputter. We’re just lucky to be here. It’s just a fantastic feeling.”

HOW BIG IS THIS RUN FOR YOU AND RED HORSE RACING?

“This is huge. Me and Mark [Rette, crew chief] have been pounding our heads together and against a cement wall that fights back. This takes a real big load off our shoulders. Now we know what we’re doing. It’s really cool going into Charlotte. We’re taking a really, really nice truck there and look forward to another top-five finish from us.”

THIS RACE TODAY COULD TURN AROUND YOUR SEASON.

“Oh yeah, this could easily turn the season around. When you go into a summer stretch and you’re feeling down on yourself and you come to the racetrack and it’s hot and you’re not running right, you’re not quite sure if you’re even in the ballpark. To get a finish like this is just huge for that momentum. All the guys can go back and sleep easy now. We know what we’re doing.”

AUSTIN DILLON, No. 3 BASS PRO SHOPS/TRACKER BOATS CHEVROLET:

“I think we had a top-10 in us at least there and really started off well and went through a long cycle there where we were getting the truck back to where it was and I think we had it good there at the end. We had ourself an outside line and drove right to eighth where we were and it jumped out of gear. And when it jumped out of gear I thought the engine blew and it took me a second to get in fourth and when to fourth it went. The caution came right out there right at the end and went through third fine and came back in fourth and blew the motor. Just part of it. We’ll have to go to Charlotte and try to gain some points back.”

YOU RAN WELL AT A VERY TOUGH TRACK. THAT MUST GIVE YOU A BOOST OF CONFIDENCE.

“You know it really does. This is probably the toughest track we’ll go to, physically, and mentally with the heat and how hard you have to run. I think we showed the guys today that we were a contender for this year. We’ll get going after Charlotte. I think out bad luck is gone now and we’ll see what we can do after this.”

BRETT BUTLER, No. 47 FUEL DOCTOR CHEVROLET:

“We were actually really happy with our Fuel Doctor Chevy. This is the same truck that we brought to Atlanta and we weren’t really happy about it. The guys worked hard to get this truck ready for Dover. I don’t really want to blame anybody. No one touched me, just spun out by ourself. We were pinched down and had no room.”

LOFTON PRESS CONFERENCE

“It was an exciting run for sure for never being here, never even racing a track like this. I’ve never been to Winchester or any of the short tracks that would simulate this. It’s really cool. We unloaded off the truck really good. First practice I think we were fifth or sixth, seventh, somewhere in there and was real happy with the truck. The second practice we thought we would make some positive changes. They were really bad, just kind of pounded our head against the wall in the second practice but Mark and I went back and put the setup we had in the race truck and did very minimal adjustments all the way through the race.

It was really cool to run good. I was little worried starting in the back, getting caught up but once we got going, once it found the bottom line it was on a rail and probably one of the best trucks that I’ve driven so far this year. It was exciting at the end. The second to last restart I think I was running eighth and they all started running out of gas and I like ‘Hey, I can win this still.’ We go on to the last restart and we’re sitting up there right where we need to be. Someone runs out of gas and got going, got going good going through the center of the corner, starts sputtering and I was like ‘Aw no, I hope we have enough for two more.’ I just drove it for all I could this race and just really happy for everyone on the No. 7 visitpit.com Toyota and everyone at Red Horse Racing.”

COMMENT ON HOW IMPORTANT THIS RUN IS FOR YOU.

“It’s huge. I haven’t got off to the best start in a season. Daytona was pretty much my first time ever in a truck and to go and come off last year in 2009 going into 2010 and just have all the bad luck we did, I think we’ve wrecked three or four race trucks so far and the guys are pounding their head. I was pounding my head. I was not the happiest person all weekend. I need to figure it out and we got it figured out and I think I know where the trucks need to be, setup-wise. Mark and everyone did a great job on pit road. Now everyone’s got the confidence back in themselves. It’s going to be big going into Charlotte and the next couple of races, definitely. These guys can go home, sleep well and hold their head high for once in about the last five months.”
