EVERYTHING REALLY IS BIGGER IN TEXAS:

Narain Karthikeyan
Narain Karthikeyan
continues to be impressive in NASCAR as he had his highest finish of the season in the WinStar World Casino 400 where he placed eleventh. Karthikeyan quickly picked up the rhythm of the race track and was faster than a handful of trucks in front of him. During the first segment of the race, Karthikeyan lost communication with the team due to a radio malfunction, but was able to maintain 19th position. After the first pit stop, Karthikeyan steadily made his way through the field up to 16th position. After avoiding a crash during the final segment of the race, Karthikeyan piloted to the eleventh position, making this his best ever NASCAR finish.

NARAIN EXCITED TO CONTINUE SUCCESS FOR STARBEAST: “I am really looking forward to getting back into the truck at O’Reilly Raceway Park. I’ve never made a Truck Series start there, but I feel pretty confident after placing eleventh in Texas in the No. 60 truck. I hope to learn a lot while we are there and I know that the Starbeast team will make it a fun race. We are testing at a short track this week so we hope that will translate into a good result at O’Reilly Raceway Park,” said Karthikeyan. The AAA Insurance 200 will be Karthikeyan’s fifth race of the season.

HEADING TO THE “MOTORSPORTS CAPITAL OF THE WORLD”: Starbeast Motorsports is venturing in to new grounds in Indianapolis, the “Motorsports Capital of the World”, when Narain Karthikeyan drives in the town where many racing legends have earned their reputations. “Narain has done a great job so far this season adapting quickly to the Truck Series. With his open-wheel racing experience, especially Formula 1, he has certainly proven his driving ability and is continuing to build a foundation for a great future in NASCAR,” said Starbeast Motorsports CEO, Miguel Abaroa.

CREW CHIEF CHAD KENDRICK ON SHORT TRACK RACING: “I am anticipating a good run at ORP this weekend. If he can start up front in Indianapolis and stay there we’ll be in good shape. This track takes a lot of patience, but the driver has to be aggressive at the same time,” said Crew Chief, Chad Kendrick.

DOING MORE THAN RACING IN INDIANAPOLIS: Karthikeyan will host a meet & greet session for his fans on Thursday, July 22 at 7:00pm at the India Palace restaurant in Indianapolis. The event is open to the public and all ages are welcome.

MILE HIGH CLUB: Between his last NCWTS race in Texas on June 4 and his upcoming on at ORP on July 23, Narain Karthikeyan has flown over 30,000 miles. In addition to racing a partial schedule in the Truck Series, Karthikeyan is also racing in an open wheel series in Europe. With races in Spain, Belgium and at trip home to India, the miles added up quickly.

STAY UP TO SPEED: The AAA Insurance 200 Camping World Truck Series race at O’Reilly Raceway Park will take the green flag at 7:30 p.m. Viewers in the United States can watch the race live on SPEED or listen to it on MRN (Motor Racing Network) and Sirius XM NASCAR. In India, the race will be shown live on NEO Sports.
