Monday
Disappointing Debut at Pocono for Donny Lia
Press Release
In the morning multi-truck qualifying session Lia posted a best lap of 57.32 seconds at just under 157 mph giving him the twentieth starting position for the 125-mile race.
On the first lap of the race Donny narrowly avoided trouble when Timothy Peters got loose in the first corner and sent teammate Jason White spinning. Donny managed to squeeze between White’s truck and the outside wall. Had the two made contact, it could have ended the day for both SS Green Light trucks before a single lap was complete.
Donny had a fairly solid run early in the race, moving into the top-fifteen and reached a high of eleventh place at the races one-quarter mark before the handle of the No. 21 went away. “We were decent on the first run,” said Donny. “But as the run went on we just started to get really tight and then all day long we fought the tight condition.”
“We never really found the speed we needed all weekend,” Lia said. “I had high hopes we would be more competitive and having run some laps at the track in the past would help.”
With the finish of the fifty-lap race closing in, Donny pushed hard to pick up some positions. A restart with only five laps to go was Donny’s chance. He drive hard coming out of the third turn but got loose under another truck and spun right in the middle of the track and was hit hard by the truck of Chase Mattoli in the left side of the truck nearly lifting the No. 21 off the ground.

Damage from the accident caused considerable damage to the No. 21 SS Green Light Racing Chevy and Donny was not able to run competitively over the last several laps taking the checkers in twenty-second place.
“I want to thank East End Helicopter and SprayMax by Kwasny for supporting me this weekend.” Lia added. “I wish we had better results for them.”
The next race for Donny Lia and the SS Green Light team is the Nashville 200 at the Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday, August 7th.
