No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet

Race Notes and Quotes

This Week’s Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet at Chicagoland Speedway … Austin Dillon will pilot chassis No. 006 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stable in Friday’s EnjoyIllinois.com 225. This chassis, built in-house by the Danny Stockman-led Bass Pro Shops team, will make its first competitive laps this weekend.

The Season so Far … In the first 16 races of the 2010 NCWTS season, Dillon leads all series competitors in the “average starting position” category, with an average start of seventh this season and a series’ high three pole awards. In addition, he boasts an average finishing position of 11.4.

First Timer … Austin Dillon will make his Chicagoland Speedway debut this weekend. However, a number of his teammates have experience at the track, including crew chief Danny Stockman, who finished 11th at Chicagoland last year as a truck chief for Ron Hornaday. Spotter Andy Houston has one start at Chicagoland in the 2001 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the track.

Raybestos Rookie Contender … Dillon is currently the leading candidate for the 2010 Raybestos Rookie of the Year award and has earned Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors in 11 out of 16 races.

AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES

The NCWTS is implementing multi-truck qualifying at Chicagoland, similar to what they did at Pocono. Do you like that format?

“I think its going to be exciting. It makes the qualifying session more difficult, but it also makes it more fun for both the teams and the fans. You don’t know who has the pole until the very last truck goes out. Our team always puts an emphasis on qualifying and this weekend will be no different. The goal is to get another pole award.”

What are your thoughts on Chicagoland Speedway?

“I’ve never raced at Chicagoland before, but I have been to other intermediate-sized tracks this year in the truck series, so I feel like having those past races under my belt will help me. Everyone I talk to says that Chicagoland is unique in that it has a slight curve to the back straightaway. I’m sure it will take a few laps during practice to figure out exactly what I need to do to get around the track. We’re going there with a brand new truck, and I really feel like it’s the best truck my guys have built so far.”
