No. 5 International Truck / Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra News and Notes

This Week’s Tundra… The No. 5 International Truck/Monaco RVs team will race chassis RMM-105 this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. Skinner drove this particular chassis last Friday night at Chicagoland Speedway where he raced inside the top-10 and praised the crew for preparing a truck that handled so well. Unfortunately, a mechanical failure late in the race ultimately resulted in a 23rd-place finish.

Success at Kentucky Speedway… Mike Skinner enters the race at Kentucky Speedway as one of only three previous winners in the 36-truck field. The driver of the No. 5 International Truck / Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra won the 2007 race after rolling off fourth and leading 135 laps. In fact, Skinner holds the record for leading the most laps at the 1.5-mile oval by pacing the field for 223 circuits.

Skinner was the Winner… After taking the checkered flag at Chicagoland Speedway, Skinner traveled to Berlin, Mich., where he competed in an asphalt modified race. The NCWTS’ regular, who was spotted wearing the Exide and International Truck / Monaco RVs colors and logos throughout the weekend, raced through the field to take the victory in the feature event.

Toyota Loyalty… Skinner is the only driver to have piloted a Toyota Tundra in every NCWTS Series race. The two teamed up in 2004 when the manufacturer entered the NASCAR arena.

Most Popular Driver… Only 10 weeks remain to vote Skinner as the NCWTS’ Most Popular Driver. Cast your vote here: http://www.nascar.com/news/features/2010.truck.mpd/index.html

Watch and Listen… The Built Ford Tough from Kentucky Speedway will be featured live on SPEED Channel on Friday, September 3. Coverage from the 225-mile race will be aired on SPEED, MRN Radio or Sirius XM Radio at 7:30 p.m. EST. Qualifying for the race will take place at 4:00 p.m. EST on Friday afternoon with a tape-delayed broadcast aired on SPEED at 6:00 p.m. EST.

Mike Skinner on racing at Kentucky Speedway

“Kentucky Speedway is a great track. The staff there has put in a tremendous effort to make it a world-class facility and they have done a great job. Kentucky [Speedway] lends itself to a lot of tough racing and great competition and I’m looking forward to our race there on Friday night. I won the race in 2007, sat on the pole in 2008, and have led a bunch of laps around the track. The International Truck/Monaco RVs team has been improving week after week and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do this weekend.”

Crew Chief Stacy Johnson on competing at Kentucky Speedway

“The entire International Truck / Monaco RVs team is looking forward to racing at Kentucky Speedway this weekend. We’re taking the same truck that we ran last weekend and Mike continually said how great the chassis handled. It’s a truck that rotates smoothly through the corners and one that we can adjust on pretty well, so we’re looking forward to it. Hopefully we will have a little luck and bring home a good, solid finish.”
