Race Notes and Quotes

This Week’s Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet at Talladega Superspeedway … Austin Dillon will pilot chassis No. 001 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stable in this weekend’s Talladega 250. This is the same chassis that Dillon drove in his first NCWTS restrictor plate race at Daytona Int’l Speedway in February, finishing a disappointing 26th after a lap-one incident.

Breaking Records … Dillon has two wins this season (Iowa and Las Vegas) and is the first rookie since Carl Edwards in 2003 to post multiple NCWTS wins as a rookie. He also has five pole awards, setting the record for most pole awards by a rookie in NCWTS history.

Raybestos Rookie Contender … Dillon is currently the leading candidate for the 2010 Raybestos Rookie of the Year award and has earned Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors in 14 out of 21 races.

Meet Austin … Dillon will meet race fans at the Bass Pro Shops in Leeds, Alabama on Thursday, October 28 from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Central Daylight Time. He will also participate in the NCWTS autograph session on Friday from 2-3 p.m. at Talladega Superspeedway in the concourse area in front of the OV Hill South Grandstand Sections D&E.

All About Points … With four races remaining in the 2010 NCWTS, Dillon is fourth in the championship point standings, just 78 markers in arrears of Johnny Sauter in third and 16 points ahead of Matt Crafton in fifth.

AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:

Are you looking forward to Talladega?

“I think Talladega could be a good place to run. I haven’t raced there yet, so it’s exciting for me to go there. Mainly, it’s going to be a good learning experience for me because it will provide some drafting experience.”

How important is it to have a good spotter, such as former driver Andy Houston, at a place like Talladega?

“Having a great spotter and a solid team is very important, especially at Talladega. Andy knows how to keep me calm out there and helps me make sure I’m using the right line. It will be important to take my time so that I can make the right decisions on the track.”
