JUSTIN LOFTON QUICK FACTS

Talladega Superspeedway

Mountain Dew 250 fueled by Fred’s

October 30, 2010

Last Time Out… Lofton put his patience and ability on display on the Martinsville Speedway short track last weekend. The 24-year-old racer started the 200-lap race from the 11th position and despite damage to the front end of his Toyota, muscled on to finish an impressive 13th on the historic track.

Off-Road Setup… Lofton will be featured on the NCWTS Setup show at 3 PM Eastern on Saturday prior to SPEED’s event coverage of the Mountain Dew 250. During the tour’s stop in Las Vegas last month, the SPEED cameras went along for a ride – literally – as Lofton took a stroll down memory lane, reliving his days of off-road racing. Lofton gave not only the SPEED cameras and crew a ride in his old Trophy Truck, but also his crew chief Mark Rette and truck chief Dan Bormann. The segment will feature the fun-filled day, as well as take a look back at some of Lofton’s accomplishments while racing off-road machines.

Talladega Memories… Though this will be Lofton’s first race at Talladega Superspeedway in a truck, it is not his first time racing at the 2.66-mile track. He has raced there twice in ARCA competition, including a run in April of 2009, which resulted in the race win after leading 46 of the event’s 97 laps.

In Line for Lofton… Lofton will be signing autographs on Friday from 2 to 3 PM local time in front of the OV Hill South Grandstand, Sections D&E. Following the meet and greet with fans, he’ll climb back behind the wheel of his Toyota Tundra for qualifying. Once he’s locked in his starting spot for Saturday’s race, he’ll head to the SPEED Channel Dome, International Motorsports Hall of Fame, adjacent to the speedway, and attend the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) annual fundraising event. Lofton will participate in a Q&A in addition to signing autographs from 5:30 to 6:15 PM.

Justin Lofton on racing at Talladega Superspeedway: “I’m really looking forward to Talladega this weekend. I won there in the ARCA car last year. This is only our second superspeedway race this season in the truck – I’m really looking forward to it. We got caught up in the wreck on the first lap at Daytona, so I’m anxious to see what we can do this weekend.”

Crew Chief Mark Rette on Talladega Superspeedway: “Justin is a proven superspeedway racer and he knows Talladega pretty well. He’s been there twice in an ARCA car. We’re taking the same truck that we had in Daytona. It’s a pretty good truck; we just need to log some laps and hope for a clean race. Superspeedway races are always a toss-up and you never know how they will unfold until the checkered flag drops.”
