Tuesday
Homecoming for David Starr at Texas Motor Speedway
Press Release
Much like the pep-rally of a homecoming celebration, long-time sponsor Zachry will host a large contingent of employees, family and friends to help support and cheer on their local hero along with the SS Green Light Racing team in the Winstar World Casino 350k.
“I’m excited to be racing at home. It’s fantastic to be racing in front of all my family and friends. Over the years I put so much pressure on myself to win at Texas, I’ve put such an emphasis on it and it just hasn’t worked out,” Starr explained. “So I’m going to treat this week like I’m racing a Talladega, Kansas or any other race in the NCWTS and go out more relaxed and have fun.”
“I’ve had some great races here and come close to winning a couple times, I’m going to try to relax and see if we can’t get the Zachry Toyota back into that top-five again.”
“This race is special because we will have about three-hundred guests from the corporate office of my San Antonio-based sponsor Zachry here at the race,” David continued. “I really want to do a great job for all the employees, their customers and guests. ”
SS Green Light General Manager Bobby Dotter and the SS Green Light Racing team know the importance of running well at David’s home track. “David has a good record with several third place finishes at Texas and the whole SS Green Light team has been working hard to be sure we give him the best possible truck for this week. I think David and Jason (Crew Chief Jason Miller) have started get the feel for each other again and the results are starting to show.”
David has twenty-four career NCWTS starts at the Texas Motor Speedway, the most of any track the veteran has visited in thirteen years racing in the truck series with seven top-five and eleven top-ten finishes. David’s average start is 13.4 and his average finish is 13.0. David has finished on the lead lap in thirteen of the twenty-four starts.
Starr concluded, “We’re going to try real hard to improve our position in the points over these last couple of races. If we can finish in the top-three in a couple of these races we can hopefully move up the standings. We don’t want to go to Homestead with any added pressure in the points race.”
The Winstar World Casino 350k is the 243rd consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 263rd career start for Starr in the Truck series.
There are 38 trucks are on the preliminary entry list for the Winstar World Casino 350k.
Practice for the NCWTS Winstar World Casino 350k will be Thursday, November 4th from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern with qualifying at 8:10 p.m. The race will be shown live on SPEED TV Friday, November 5th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
