Team Manager Mitch Davis on Brazil: “So far this year we’ve met our expectations as far as building the team, drivers, and synergy; setup-wise everything is looking really good and the cars are faster every race. We work on the cars week-to-week to try and get more competitive in the pits and on the race track. Neither driver has been to Brazil, but we have a lot of data from the Target Chip Ganassi Racing team and we work really close with them on engineering, so I think our starting set-up will be very good out of the box. I’m looking forward to both Charlie and Graham going down there and being really competitive, the Novo Nordisk team and Service Central team were really competitive in Long Beach even though we had some misfortune there but we look forward to Brazil.”
Charlie Kimball and the No. 83 Novo Nordisk Team
Follow Charlie on Twitter: Follow @charliekimball for updates as the driver of the No. 83 Levemir and NovoLog FlexPen Honda completes his rookie year with Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing in the IZOD IndyCar Series.
Rookie Race: Kimball enters Round 4 in third place in the IZOD IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year points standings, just five points behind the current leader.
Long Beach Recap: Kimball started the race from the 21st position and would run consistently in the top-20 until contact with another car ended the run for the Novo Nordisk team. Kimball finished in 24th place.
Kimball on Long Beach: “It was a disappointing finish to a really good race for the No. 83 Levemir and NovoLog FlexPen car. The Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing team did a great job on both pit stops; we were running great, saving fuel. I got checked up and the No. 34 car ran straight into the back of me and spun me around. I think the contact I had after I was spun around knocked some of the electronics out so it wouldn’t pop into neutral and we couldn’t get it restarted. The Novo Nordisk team will regroup and will be ready to head to Brazil.”
