INDIANAPOLIS (May 28, 2011) – As the Indianapolis 500 celebrates its 100th anniversary, Conquest Racing driver Pippa Mann is making her own mark on the history of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

On Sunday, Mann will be the first British female to compete in the Indy 500 when she makes her IZOD IndyCar Series debut in the No. 36 Armando Montelongo/Loctite car. Mann starts 31st on the 33-car grid, from the inside of row 11 for the historic race on the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 2.5-mile oval.

“This week has been incredibly busy, but very special,” Mann said. “What we achieved here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last weekend was a dream come true. To be part of the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 is an honor. Now I’m so excited about taking the green flag.

“The Armando Montelongo Conquest Racing team has worked very hard throughout the month of May and I’m extremely thankful to Eric Bachelart and the entire team for all they have done to get the No. 36 car into the field. I just want to do the best job I can tomorrow, and make sure everyone at Conquest Racing is proud of me.”

Conquest Racing team owner Eric Bachelart is a part of Indy’s rich history in his own right. Bachelart, who drove in the 500-mile race in 1992 and 1995, was honored today among the legendary high-speed heroes who have raced here.

“The Indianapolis 500 is the ultimate race,” Bachelart said. “We are so thrilled to be among the generations of drivers who have been a part of its history and tradition, especially as we’re celebrating the 100th anniversary. This is the closest-matched field in Indianapolis 500 history and we are looking forward to an exciting race Sunday.”

The Indianapolis 500 will be broadcast live on ABC and the IMS Radio Network/XM 94-Sirius Premier 212 with pre-race coverage beginning at 11 a.m. (ET).

About Conquest Racing
Conquest Racing is entering its 15th season of professional racing. Throughout its history, the team has been known to give young up and coming drivers a chance to make it to the big leagues and Conquest is keeping up that tradition with IZOD IndyCar rookie Sebastian Saavedra this year and the IZOD IndyCar Series debut of Pippa Mann at the Indianapolis 500.
