JRi Shocks to Make ARCA Racing Series Debut at Daytona Open Test Next Week
Press Release
Introduced as the Official Shock of ARCA at the series’ national awards banquet in December, JRi will be the sole supplier of the ARCA-mandated rear spec shocks for the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona on Saturday, February 12, as well as the series’ second event, the Talladega ARCA 250 at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, April 15.
“We are very pleased to welcome JRi to ARCA’s family of corporate supporters, and are looking forward to working with them beginning at Daytona next week,” said Joe Wells, vice president of competition for ARCA.
JRi Development Group signed a three-year marketing and service agreement with ARCA, including the official shock designation and the role of spec shock supplier for ARCA’s two superspeedway, restrictor plate race events. The Mooresville, N.C.-based performance manufacturing firm has been working with several ARCA race teams over the past two years, a natural stepping stone into a series-endorsing role.
“JRi Shocks is proud of our relationship with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and all the teams and drivers for the 2011 season and beyond. Over the last few years, JRi Shocks has worked with a number of ARCA teams, including the 2009 and 2010 season champions,” said Dan Kungl, managing director of JRi Shocks, LLC. “We look forward to continuing to support the teams and drivers that make the ARCA Racing Series one of the most competitive in North America. ARCA and JRi Shocks have created a strong foundation with the announcement of JRi Shocks as an official sponsor of the ARCA Racing Series.”
The rear shock program for the restrictor plate events will be managed and administered at the tracks by CV Products. The Daytona build specifications for the mandated rear shocks to be used in practice, qualifying, and the race are as follows:
- JRI Non-Adjustable Aluminum ARCA Legal Shock 5017-ARCA SSR
- All shocks have ½” monoballs
- Extended length eye-to-eye 23.100″
- Compressed length eye-to-eye 15.125″
- Valving will be 125/250 with increased flow/linear piston
- Bleed of .020
- PSI 130
Wells advised that JRi may have to adjust the specifications for Talladega, depending on Daytona performance.
JRi offers a non-adjustable shock with build specifications identical to those being issued by ARCA, for teams desiring to test with products similar to series mandates. More information is available by calling J.J. Furillo of JRi Development Group at (704) 660-8346.
In addition to the spec shock program for the restrictor plate events, JRi offers a full line of both adjustable and non-adjustable shocks for all four corners for race cars, from ARCA to NASCAR to Sprint Cars and motorcycles. More information is available at JRiShocks.com.
Open testing for teams and drivers is set to begin Tuesday at Daytona International Speedway. Over 50 teams and 50 drivers are expected to enter for the three-day period.
The 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season will mark the sanctioning body’s 59th year of competition and begins with the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 12. The event will air live on SPEED.
The complete 2011 event schedule is available at ARCARacing.com.
The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series tests the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, annually visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course.
Founded by John Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in two professional touring series and local weekly events.
