Alli Owens Tweets Way Into Daytona Truck Race
Caught in the Catchfence™
Owens, who lost her sponsorship after the 2010 racing season, used social media websites Facebook and Twitter to raise money to rent a truck to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Series race at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 18.
“We are racing at Daytona. Yeah!” said Owens, 22, who hails from South Daytona.
“We were able to come up with the bottom-line dollars. We did it because of the race fans. They gave us about $6,000.”
The southern region branches of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and National Electrical Contractors Association are launching a new website, thequalityconnection.org.
The website will be Owens’ primary sponsor.
“The website is geared for contractors and their workers,” Owens said. “This is going to help them promote the quality of their work.”
