Patrick Sheltra
is back on track.

The Indiantown native and reigning ARCA Series champion signed a deal this week to drive for Rick Ware Racing in this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

“It’s a one-race deal right now, but we may do something again down the road with them,” Sheltra said on Thursday following a practice session.

“I’m very thankful for Rick Ware Racing coming in and letting me race with them.”

Qualifying for the DRIVE4COPD 300 is set for Friday at 4 p.m. on ESPN2. The 120-lap race will also air on ESPN2 at 1:15 on Saturday.

Sheltra will drive the No. 41 Fuel Doctor Ford Mustang in his sixth Nationwide start. Ware’s team is devoted to developing new drivers and fielded a truck last July for Port St. Lucie resident Ryan Rust in the race at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis.
