TALLADEGA, AL (March 30, 2011) – Max Gresham got a taste of superspeedway racing Tuesday putting the No. 25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota through its paces at the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) test at Talladega Superspeedway.

The test marked Gresham’s first-ever visit to the giant 2.66-mile Talladega super fast oval and the 17-year-old high school senior didn’t disappoint rolling to a best lap of 188.222 miles per hour to close out the test session.

“We had a great test, a lot of fun,” said Gresham afterward. “You didn’t really feel the speed that much unless you were up against the wall. Honestly, I think we were going faster into the corner at Michigan when I tested there last year. Really, the speeds didn’t bother me today. I wish we could have gone faster.”

Gresham picked up nearly two seconds over the day-long test as both he and his Venturini Motorsports Toyota got better.

According to Gresham, the full day of testing has him much better prepared for his seven-race ARCA stint with the Venturini team later this season.

“It’s always interesting to work with someone for the first time,” said Gresham of Tuesday’s test with Venturini Motorsports. “They were great, organized. It was like working with a Cup team. I’m looking forward to our superspeedway events together at Michigan, Pocono and Kansas, but I’m also really excited about our short-track schedule, especially our first race together at Salem (IN) Speedway on May 1.”

Before Gresham and the Venturinis head to Salem, Gresham has some other business on his calendar including this Saturday’s 2011 NASCAR K&N Pro Series season opening event at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, SC.

The event, washed out by heavy rain last Saturday, will see Gresham compete in the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry. The first practice is set for 1 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday, April 2.
