Bryan Silas Enjoying Success In 2011
Press Release
Thusfar in 2011, the decision has paid off. The 23-year old has competed in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and the USARacing Pro Cup Series. Experiencing success in all three divisions has given the former Legends car driver some much needed confidence and momentum to build on heading into a busy summer stretch of racing.
Despite a bumpy start to his ARCA Racing Series season at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Silas made a statement at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in a car fielded by Eddie Sharp Racing. The following race, Silas returned to his familiar No. 11 Rockingham Speedway Ford Fusion for Andy Hillenburg and matched a career-best finish of fourth at Salem (Ind.) Speedway.
This past weekend, Silas continued his limited schedule in ARCA with a stop at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) where a top-10 finish was erased on the last lap when Silas’s hood pins became disengaged allowing the hood to flop up and completely block the view of the 12-turn race course. Still, Silas carefully maneuvered his machine to a solid 11th place finish.
It was a double duty weekend for Silas who also made his 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut driving the No. 99 CollegeComplete.com Ford F-150 for Chase Mattoli Racing. Reuniting with former ARCA crew chief Cal Boprey, Silas climbed back behind the wheel of a truck for the first time since Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway last October. He qualified 35th, but charged his way through the field at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in the N.C. Education 200 to capture a 19th place lead lap finish, his second top-20 finish ever in NASCAR competition.
In USAR competition, Silas has competed in three events this season and has recorded two top-fives and three top-10s and nearly scored his first career USARacing Pro Series victory in the most recent contest at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway. Silas has also led laps in two of the three races, carries an average finish of fifth and realistically still has a mathematical shot at capturing the 2011 championship.
