Hal Martin Second Quick In ARCA Racing Series Practice At Michigan International Speedway
Press Release
The two-hour practice session was part of the two-day race weekend here at MIS for ARCA Racing Series. Martin, the Galliano, La. native, is confident going into tomorrow’s 10amET qualfiying. “We were pretty quick today, running on average in the fifth or so position. It was great to get that mock qualifying run in there at the end to really see what our speed could do.”
“Unfortunately, we had a right front shock break at the last minute before the mock qualifying, so we were wondering if we’d have a chance to make one,” he continued. “We joke about the ‘bad juju’ luck we’ve had here and there in the last few races, so I’m so glad we were able to make a great run. I’m really comfortable here and it’s a great track. I was tight early in the middle, and then we were working on the center off during the middle of practice. So really minor stuff, I’m glad that I could adjust so well here so fast. I hope that bodes well for tomorrow’s qualifying and race.”
When asked if the recent test session here at Michigan had a positive effect, Martin commented an absolute yes. “It was great to get some laps a few weeks ago for the first time here, I think that definitely made a difference. Tires are important here, and the weather is so critical. So we’ve had it all, from rain to sun and wind. We’re prepared for this race.”
