Manpower to Horsepower Teams up with Lucas Oil Late Model Series Driver Will Vaught

Vaught will be making his return to the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series after a month hiatus in his family owned No. 1V MP2HP car for the Batesville Motor Speedway events.
“It’s exciting to be back in my family’s equipment after three years of driving for another team.” Will Vaught said. “We built this new car in five days and I am incredibly excited to be back on dirt this weekend. The first time I raced in Batesville we finished in second-place position and unfortunately the second time I raced there we had a motor malfunction. I really hope to go back and finish first for this MP2HP team.”
MP2HP is a one of a kind approach to rehabilitating our returning service members for the challenges that post-combat life presents. Whether it is loss of limbs, TBI or PTSD, our servicemen and women coming home are each faced with different obstacles to overcome in their return to daily life.
MP2HP is an accredited program (authorized by the Veteran’s Administration) and is offered through the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. All of the courses are taught locally at the race shop in Mooresville, NC. The courses offer certificated programs in Motorsports Management Technology for military veterans with physical and mental disabilities. These classes are customized to meet the individual goals and needs of each student.
MP2HP is a rehabilitation center that will serve not only as a full service, hands-on rehabilitation facility, but a center where veterans can work together to receive a different type of therapy. This form of therapy will help them successfully acclimate back into society from post-combat stress and injury while affording them real life racing exposure both at the shop and the tracks. The ultimate goal being to offer them a life-changing and productive path for which they can be proud of in an industry that prides itself on self-worth, respect and achievement.
Vaught will also be the driver of the No. 55 MP2HP Venturini Motorsports ARCA Series car at the Springfield Mile on Sunday, August 21, 2011.
“Working with Manpower to Horsepower has really opened my eyes to how difficult it is to transition from soldier to citizen,” Vaught said. “I am so grateful for Venturini Motorsports and their willingness to become involved with such an incredible organization that is helping to spread the word on how important it is to take care of our military veterans returning from active duty. The education, housing and therapy they assist the veterans and their families in receiving is truly an honor to be associated with.”
