NASCAR officials fined Late Model Stock Car Division driver Jeb Burton $250 Friday and suspended him from NASCAR until Sept. 7 in connection with an incident that occurred Aug. 20 during the first race of a twin-race NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division event at South Boston Speedway. If Burton does not pay the fine by Sept. 7, the suspension will continue until the fine is paid.

NASCAR officials ruled Burton violated sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 12-4-F (fighting or altercation on track/or pit area) of the NASCAR Rule Book.

Burton’s punishment resulted from an incident in which he threw a cone at the driver’s side window of the car driven by Natalie Sather of Fargo, N.D. after the two drivers were involved in a wreck that occurred on lap 73 of the night’s first 75-lap race.

NASCAR officials also placed Burton’s father, Ward Burton, on NASCAR probation until Sept. 14 for his actions in relation to the incident. He was ruled to be in violation of Sections 12-1 and 12-4-F of the NASCAR Rule Book
