MacDonald Motorsports goes into the second race of the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series season at Phoenix International Raceway this Saturday, February 26th. Donnie Neuenberger brought the Eagle Convenience Store’s No. 81 Dodge home in 23rd position last week and that is where the team sits in the current owner’s standings.
Driver:
25 year old Blake Koch from West Palm Beach, FL will wheel the MacDonald Motorsports RizeUp.us No. 81 Dodge this weekend at Phoenix. Koch made his initial start at the NASCAR Nationwide level back in 2009 in a cameo appearance with MacDonald Motorsports in Memphis. In that race, the former motocrosser that had been busy racing speedway trucks and late models on the east coast finished an impressive 17th on the lead lap. Now he returns to the starting grid with the same team that gave him that opportunity with a positive outlook on the season to come. “I can’t thank everyone enough that made this possible,” said Koch. “I have to thank my family, MacDonald Motorsports, RizeUp.us and Heartland Harley Davidson for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I am really looking forward to seeing God’s plan for me, my sponsors and this team.”
In 2009 and 2010, Koch competed full time in the NASCAR West series. During his most recent year he earned three top fives and seven top ten finishes. In the spring of 2010 Koch made his first start in the ARCA Racing Series where he drove his Tire Kingdom sponsored car from the rear of the field to finish third on the road course at Palm Beach International Speedway despite racing on rain tires for the first time in his career.
