Thank You Food City (Shelby Howard)
Press Release
Jeff Byrd was the president of Bristol Motor Speedway. More than that, however, he was of and for the fans. That, more than anything, explained Food City CEO Steve Smith, led the sponsoring company, a fixture at BMS for 20 years, to suggest to speedway officials that Sunday’s race be renamed the Jeff Byrd 500. Track GM, Jerry Caldwell mentioned that “the Jeff Byrd 500 was one of the most selfless acts that I have seen from a company in a long time”. The decal on the rear deck lid reads – “Thank You Food City for Honoring Our Friend Jeff Byrd”.
Also on the #70 Chevrolet is Race Fuel Energy Drink which was the primary sponsor at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Race Fuel owner, Kenny Freeman, was so happy with the exposure he received at Las Vegas and enjoyed the time he spent during race weekend with team members that he has opted to put Race Fuel Energy Drink on the car as an associate sponsor.
“There was a level of electricity that I have never experienced before,” Freeman said. “The action was non-stop and I’ll will never forget being able to see the action in the pits during the race. The teamwork is a fascinating element in NASCAR events.
“These are good people who are affiliated with Shelby and his team. They travel thousands of miles a year to get to the races and they work hard for every cent they make. From preparing and maintaining the car to setting up travel arrangements and the rest, this is a mind boggling series of responsibilities just getting to the track not to mention what takes place after arriving. This was an experience that our entire family will never forget.”
Race Fuel Energy Drink is currently available for purchase online and will be in stores in the future.
