Brian Scott, No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota Camry Nashville Superspeedway Post Race Report
Press Release
Nashville 300 at Nashville Superspeedway
April 23, 2011
Race Highlights:
- Brian Scott and the No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota Team earned the 10th-place starting position for the Nashville 300 during the qualifying session that took place on Saturday morning at Nashville Superspeedway only hours before the start of the race.
- After battling a tight-handling condition on the No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota during the first several laps of the race, Scott settled into a rhythm, running between the 10th and 12th positions throughout the first 50 laps.
- Chassis adjustments made during the first pit stop of the event helped ease the handling issues and Scott climbed inside the top 10 moving up to the seventh position by lap 75.
- A combination of a hot and slick race track and hitting the splitter on the No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota created a combination of handling problems during the mid-point of the race. The day got worse on lap 145 when the caution came out for an incident on the track. Scott was hit from behind as he slowed on the track to take the yellow and sustained damage to the rear of the Shore Lodge Toyota. Scott lost a lap while the team worked to repair the damage.
- Scott returned to competition in 20th position and quickly discovered the tow had been damaged during the incident. Attempts to fix the tow on the car were made during the next caution on lap 166. Scott returned to the race in 22nd position.
- The blistering pace set by eventual race winner Carl Edwards put Scott down another lap with only 17 laps left in the race. He was eventually scored with a 22nd-place finish.
- Scott’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Kyle Busch and Joey Logano finished second and fourth, respectively.
- Scott remains eighth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver point standings following the event in Nashville. He now sits 36 points out of the lead which is currently shared by Justin Allgaier and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.

“It was just a disappointing race for us today. We were a little tight there at the start but we made some changes and the car was pretty good. I think we were looking at a solid top-ten finish maybe a little better than that. We just got spun out when the caution came out. My spotter called the caution and I slowly rolled out of the throttle. I was being careful and we just got turned, it is frustrating. We just tried to get the most out of we could after that. Kevin Kidd and all the guys did a great job all weekend. We just have to put this behind us and get ready for Richmond.”
