No. 31 Wolfpack Rentals Chevrolet News and Notes
· Justin Allgaier Heads to Richmond International Raceway (RIR) First in Points… Allgaier moved into first place in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) championship point standings after an 11th-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway. The Riverton, Ill-native is tied with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., two points ahead of Turner Motorsports teammate Jason Leffler who sits in third. All three championship contending Turner Motorsports drivers are currently in the top-four, with Leffler in third place and Reed Sorenson in fourth place.
· RIR: by the Numbers… The 24-year-old Wolfpack Rentals Chevy driver has four starts at RIR. He is credited with one top-10 finish and a best start of eighth coming in 2009, and has an average starting spot of 20.2 and an average finish of 18.2.
· This Week’s Impala… The No. 31 Wolfpack Rentals team will hit the track with chassis TMS-114 this weekend at RIR. This chassis was run earlier this season at Phoenix International Raceway where Allgaier started 16th and went on to finish in the eighth position.
· In the Loop… Thus far in 2011, Allgaier ranks among the top-10 in several of NASCAR’s loop data statistics: Closers (1st), Laps in the Top-15 (8th), Green Flag Speed (9th), Average Running Position (10th), Quality Passes (10th) and Fastest Early in the Run (10th).
· Start of a new era for Turner Motorsports… The 2011 season marks the start of a new era for Turner Motorsports. The team has expanded in 2011 from a two-truck operation in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) to become the largest stand-alone multi-series team in NASCAR’s top-tier touring series, fielding three entries in the NCWTS and four entries in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS). Three of the team’s regular NNS drivers (Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson and Justin Allgaier) have been pegged as viable contenders to win the 2011 NNS driver championship.
Justin Allgaier on Richmond International Raceway:
“Richmond was the first race with the ‘new car’ last year, making it a track that we have a good idea on how the car is going to handle,” said Allgaier. “Richmond is a tough track to get the car to feel comfortable, we’re going to work hard in practice and make sure the car gets to the point where we need it to maintain through the long runs and tight racing action that Richmond is known for.”
