Making Moves in the Motor City… Kenny Wallace is determined to score his 10th NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) career-victory in the 2011 season with RAB Racing with Brack Maggard, and if momentum is any form of motivation, Wallace could reach his goal this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. In 14 NNS events thus far in 2011, Wallace has only two finishes outside of the top-20 and currently occupies the seventh position in the driver point standings.
Heading to Michigan this weekend for the Alliance Truck Parts 250, Wallace has nearly two decades of first-hand experience as well as an experienced Crew Chief in Scott Zipadelli to get the No. 09 Toyota Camry ready for 250-miles of Nationwide Series racing action and a chance for Wallace to make big moves in the “Motor City.”
Keeping Tabs… RAB Racing last saw racing action at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday, June 4, where Wallace brought home a seventh-place finish in the inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series STP 300. Collecting the fifth top-10 finish of the season, Wallace closed the gap to the top-five in the driver point standings but remains solidly in the seventh position. RAB Racing, who is having its best season since joining the Nationwide Series full-time in 2009, improved to 12th in the car owner standings following the successful weekend in Chicago.
Beginning with the Michigan event, the Nationwide Series enters its summer season stretch of 14 races scattered across the nation. The next off-weekend for NASCAR’s junior division coincidentally follows the second Chicagoland Speedway event held on Saturday, September 17th.
Michigan Details…
· Wallace will make his 30th career-start in NASCAR’s top two series this weekend at Michigan International Speedway and first start at MIS for RAB Racing.
· In 1992, Wallace made his first of 13 appearances at the two-mile, D-shaped oval in the Nationwide Series. Wallace has recorded a best finish of 18th three times at the Michigan track.
· Wallace has competed in 16 Sprint Cup events dating back to 1993.
· RAB Racing will be making its second start at Michigan since finishing 21st in their 2009 Nationwide Series track debut.
The “fans” have spoken… Wallace will drive the No. 09 Toyota Camry supported by fans from around the world in October’s Nationwide Series event at Charlotte Motor Speedway. For $20, fans can get their name on Wallace’s No. 09 RAB Racing Toyota Camry and receive a postcard. In addition to fan support, the University of Northwestern Ohio will be featured on the hood for the memorable event. For more information, please visit www.kennywallace.com.
