Nationwide Teams Use Performance Friction Brakes to Win Last 3 Consecutive Races at Montreal
Press Release
On Saturday, Ambrose and Roush Engineering didn’t compromise when it came to their brake package and it showed. Ambrose missed the drivers meeting after flying in from Sprint Cup practice at Michigan and was forced to start from the back. It didn’t take long for Ambrose to reach the front of the pack though, after passing 16 cars on the first lap alone. When Ambrose arrived at the front he was forced to do battle with local favorite, Jacques Villeneuve. On a restart, halfway through the race, Villeneuve slid wide through the grass and ran into Marcos’ door while battling for the lead. The incident relegated both drivers to the rear of the field. After the incident, Ambrose stormed through the field for a second time and took the lead with 9 laps remaining. When the checkered flag waved Ambrose had a 1.112 second lead over second place, Alex Tagliani with third going to Michael McDowell. On a track that is brutal on the brakes, Performance Friction helped Ambrose drive through the field not once but twice to take the win.
The win at Montreal was Ambrose’s second NASCAR win in less than a week after winning the Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen just a few days prior. “I feel like I passed 400 cars out there. I finally got to the front when it counted. I’ve come close here. I’ve led more laps than anyone, but today I was able to close the deal,” said Marcos. The last few races at Montreal slipped through Ambrose’s grasp but this year was finally the year for the 34-year-old Aussie turned NASCAR star to win. Performance Friction would like to congratulate Roush Engineering on their third victory in a row at Montreal. Their designs with Performance Friction integration have been unbeatable in Nationwide competition at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
