Brian Scott Post-Race Recap

Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway

August 26, 2011

Race Highlights:

Brian Scott and the No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota team picked up the 11th starting spot for Friday night’s Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway during the qualifying session on Friday afternoon. Scott lost a spot on the start and spent the first several circuits around the track in the 12th position.

· The first caution of the Food City 250 was displayed at lap 34 for a minor incident. Scott reported that the handling on the Shore Lodge Toyota was fairly neutral.

· The next 90 laps of the race rolled off without incident. During that time the handling on the Shore Lodge Toyota started shifting toward the tight side as Scott reported that he had a hard time getting the car to turn at the exits of the turns. The team made an air pressure adjustment, changed four tires and added fuel during the second caution at lap 124.

· Scott was in the ninth position when green-flag racing resumed at lap 131.

· A couple of cautions slowed the pace of the race during the next handful of laps as the third and fourth caution flags were displayed at laps 135 and 144 for some minor incidents. Trouble on the restarts however resulted in Scott losing a couple of positions and he was back to 11th place by the time green-flag racing resumed for an extended period of time at lap 150.

· The No. 11 Shore Lodge Team made its final pit stop of the night during the final caution at lap 190. Scott gave up the 13th spot to come to pit road for four tires, a wedge adjustment and fuel. Quick pit work put him in 10th place for the restart.

·Scott spent the final 30-plus laps of the race battling with fellow driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., for the 10th position. Scott held on to score his first ever top-10 finish at the half-mile Bristol Motor Speedway.

· Scott’s Joe Gibbs Racing Teammate Kyle Busch scored the win over Joey Logano by one of the smallest margins in series history at .019 seconds. The win was Busch’s 50th career win in Nationwide Series history, making him the all-time win leader of the series.

· Scott remains ninth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver point standings. He is 14 points behind Steven Wallace in eighth place. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. remains in the top spot in the standings, five points in front of Elliott Sadler in second.
