The MacDonald Motorsports No. 81 Dodge has made 5 career starts at the lightning fast Atlanta Motor Speedway over the years. Last season, Michael McDowell qualified the car in 26th position and brought home a 27th place finish.Blake Koch on Atlanta….. “It was nice to have a good weekend for the first time in a while last weekend in Bristol. We were fast in practice and had a great car on long runs. I hope we can do the same this weekend at Atlanta. I’ve never been there before but I really think the Daystar.com Dodge is going to be quick. We have shown speed on the 1.5 mile tracks this season and I know the guys at the shop are doing everything they can to give me a good race car.”
Bristol Wrap-Up….. After the best practice session of the year so far by Blake and the Daystar team, qualifying was a bit of a let-down. Track changes caused the car to push leaving the No. 81 with a 40th place starting spot for the race. Blake ran an excellent race moving through the field and keeping the car under him. The last segment was a shoot-out with Blake and Timmy Hill racing for another Sunoco Rookie of the Race award. Blake came up just a few laps short but still recorded a solid 23rd place result.
